TELTSCHER TROPHY SECOND WALES TEAM

As is normally the case, there will be a sixth team participating in the Teltscher Trophy (‘Senior Camrose’), which this year will be held in Mold, North Wales on the weekend of 18/19/20 May.¬† The inclusion of a sixth team avoids the need for a long sit-out. In the past, when the event was sponsored, that sixth team was the ‘President’s Team’, which included the event sponsor. Now that Bernard Teltscher is no longer sponsoring the event we do not have a President’s team, but Wales – as this year’s hosts – have been invited to field a second team.

The following pairs have been invited to make up this second Wales team:

Dave Birt & Gilly Clench

Barry Jones & Bob Pitts

Tony Disley and Philip Felman

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: LADIES AND SENIORS

The European Teams Championships will be held in Ostend, Belgium, from 6 to 16 June. In addition to the Open team (already selected) Wales is entitled to send both a Ladies and a Seniors team. There are also  Pairs competitions for Ladies and Seniors. These will be run immediately prior to the Teams events.

There is no WBU financial support guaranteed for either of the above teams, although if there is sufficient interest the selectors will be prepared to make the case to WBU management for at least some measure of funding.

Anyone interested in representing Wales in the above events (Ladies or Seniors) is invited to contact the selectors. Application may be made by pairs or, if preferred, by teams of four.

Applications should reach us no later than 28 February.
