SELECTORS BULLETIN #160 – CAMROSE TEAM TRIAL

You are invited to enter a TEAM OF FOUR for the WBU TEAMS TRIAL for the 2023 CAMROSE  (taking place in Belfast during January 2023 and Dublin during March 2023).

The WELSH TEAMS TRIAL will take place over the weekend of 1st & 2nd October 2022 at the Commodore Hotel in Llandrindod Wells.

The entry fee is £200 per team and the Commodore Hotel are offering discounted hotel accommodation.

The closing date for entries is 31st August 2022.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #159 – 11th European Women’s National Pairs Championship 9th European Seniors’ National Pairs Championship Funchal – Madeira / Portugal

The 11th European Women’s National Pairs Championship and the 9th European Seniors’ National Pairs Championship will be held at the Savoy Palace Hotel in Funchal from 12th to 15th June 2022.

It is anticipated that each Championship will consist of two stages: a Qualifying Stage, and a Final Stage (with an Final A and Final B). However, should the number of participants permit, there will be a one stage all-play-all competition.

Details of the competitions may be changed according to the final

Women and Senior bridge players who are registered members of Zone 1 NBOs and in good standing with their Federation are entitled to participate.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #158 – European Women’s Teams Championship, European Mixed Teams Championship and European Seniors’ Championship in Funchal – Madeira

A deadline of 31st March 2022 has been set in order for the Selectors to consider possible Wales teams for the European Women’s Teams Championship, European Mixed Teams Championship and European Seniors’ Teams Championship to be held in Funchal, Madeira over the period 16th – 22nd June 2022.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #155 – Teltscher Trophy

Bob Pitts & Barry Jones have had to withdraw from the Wales Team that was chosen to play in the Teltscher Trophy scheduled to be held in Northern Ireland over the weekend of 20th – 22nd May. They will be replaced by Gilly Clench and Dave Birt, who were initially chosen as the reserve pair.

Details of the competitions may be changed according to the final registration of participants. Further information is available in the Supplemental Conditions of Contest on the EBL Website. All pairs must comprise two players from the same NBO.

To participate in the Seniors Series a player must have been born in 1959 or earlier.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #153 – European National Teams Championships

55th EUROPEAN BRIDGE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Funchal – Madeira/Portugal

Organised by the European Bridge League – In cooperation with the Portuguese Bridge Federation

The 55th European Bridge Team Championships will be held at Casino Da Madeira & Savoy Palace Hotel on 12th to 22nd June 2022

The Championships consist of four Series: Open, Women, Seniors and Mixed.

All four Championships will be played as a single complete round robin. The number of boards played in each match will be determined and published when the number of participants is known.

The Open Championship will be played over 11 days, and the Women’s, Seniors’ and Mixed Championships will be played over 7 days.

• Open & Mixed Teams will be played at the Casino Da Madeira

• Womens/Seniors Pairs & Teams will be played at the Savoy Palace Hotel

Each member NBO is authorised to enter one team each in the Open, Women, Seniors and Mixed Series.

NBOs must have paid the entry fee and be in good standing with the EBL, including payment of 2022 annual dues to the EBL.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #152 – European National Teams Championships

The 55th European National Teams Championships will be held in Funchal in Madeira, with play starting on the 12th June and ending on the 22nd of June 2022.

The Event in Funchal will also comprise Women’s, Senior’s and Mixed Teams events, to be held 16th-22nd June, and Women’s and Senior’s Pairs to be held on 12th-15th June.

Players interested in playing in any of these events should inform the Selectors with an expression of interest. Some limited funding may be available to cover the Entry Fee for the Teams events.

SELECTOR’S BULLETIN #151 – Lady Milne Selection 2022

A Cross-IMP Trial was held over the weekend 22 – 23 January 2022 on RealBridge. The trial utilised hands from a past European Teams event of a suitable standing and the event was scored both against the datum scores derived from that event, and the Cross IMP scores from the trial.

As the Welsh Bridge Union are hosting this event in 2022, the Welsh Bridge Union are able to field two teams of six players (with the teams designated as Wales and WBU).

The Lady Milne is due to be held in Cardiff on 22nd – 24th April 2022. Currently BGB are planning that the Lady Milne event will be run as a Face-to-Face event although this may change depending including the status of any current Government guidance.
